On a four-day backpacking excursion, Fr. Nathan follows a raging mountain river upward to its snowy source high in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. As he enjoys sweeping mountain views, explores waterfalls, and catches fresh mountain trout, he reflects on the restlessness of the human heart and how God draws us to himself through our desires.
Reflection Questions:
In what ways have I or do I wrestle with God in my life?
Do I trust that God's love can hold and guide all of my struggles, even though I may feel lost?
What are the great dreams of my life?
When I trace my desires to their roots, to their source, do I find God there, drawing me to himself?
When I feel tossed about by my desires, afraid or even tempted to despair, do I let myself rest in God's promise to me and in the hope that in the end, all will go well for me?
