"What should I do if I'm attracted to the priesthood AND marriage?"
This question comes up very often when men are discerning the priesthood. First and foremost, a priest is a human being—a man—with all the same needs and desires as other men. It’s normal and healthy for a man called to the priesthood to experience a desire for marriage and children. In fact, if a man didn’t have the love, capacity for, and some desire to be a husband and father, that might be problematic. But not every man has a desire to be a priest, celebrate the Sacraments, and so on and so forth. So if a man does have those attractions, he should take his discernment of consecrated life very seriously, even if he also has a desire for marriage.
