Local clergy pray for Christian unity
St. John Chrysostom Church in West Roxbury hosted Ecumenical Prayer Service for Christian Unity on Jan. 22 marking the 100th anniversary of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Among clergy attending were Bishop John Boles, St. John pastor Father David Michael; Father John Maheras representing the Greek Othrodox community, Rev. Jack Johnson, representing the Mass. Council of Churches, and Rev. John Teebagy of the Syrian Orthodox community. The homily was presented by Father Jim Loughran SA, director of the Graymoor Ecumenical and Religious Institute. The service included readings from Scripture and Psalms, hymns, the exchange of the sign of peace and a candle lighting ceremony.
