Archives to close during relocation
The archives of the Archdiocese of Boston announced it will suspend research services during the archdiocese’s relocation to Braintree. The archives will close Sept. 3, 2007 and will not re-open until fall 2008.
The archives intend to answer as many requests as possible that are received prior to Sept. 3. However, genealogical and historical requests received after that date will not be answered until fall 2008.
Services will continue to be provided to archdiocesan administrative staff, parishes and individuals needing records for official civil or religious reasons during the closure, such as baptismal certificates required for the purposes of marriage or annulments.
Appointments are required for admittance to the archives. Those interested in making an appointment are asked to call 617-746-5797, 1-2 weeks in advance. Appointments are available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
