North Cambridge Catholic announces new principal
CAMBRIDGE -- Robert J. McCarthy, president of North Cambridge Catholic High School has announced the appointment of Father Jose Medina to the position of principal. Father Medina will bring his experience as an educator, advisor and educational consultant to his new role.
Prior to his appointment, Father Medina served as a student-teacher advisor for teacher education programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where he worked in several capacities as both a classroom coach of graduate student teachers and a member of the admissions committee.
Father Medina has also served at Georgetown Visitation School in Washington, D.C. and was formerly a teacher at North Cambridge.
“I am thrilled to come back to North Cambridge Catholic, a place I consider home,” said Father Medina. “NCC was the beginning of my time in the U.S. and is a school that I have held dear in my heart since I left. During the interview process, I realized once again that North Cambridge Catholic is a very special community and I firmly believe that its educational program is a model for other area Catholic schools. I am honored to be part of such a great community and can’t wait to meet each one of them.”
Father Medina is a native of Spain and a member of the priestly fraternity of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo. He received his civil engineering degree from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, a Bachelors of Sacred Theology from the Pontificia Universita Lateranense in Rome, Italy and a Masters in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
“This is an exciting time for our school community,” said McCarthy. “We look forward to working with Father Medina in growing the already strong educational and professional programs that we offer in a faith-filled environment building minds and changing lives under his competent and capable leadership.”
In addition to his new position, Father Medina serves as a special consultant for secondary education for the archdiocesan Catholic Schools Office and is an associate pastor for the Latino Catholic community at St. Mary Parish in Waltham.
