Father Monan to be honored at Catholic Charities’ Spring Celebration
BOSTON -- Father J. Donald Monan, SJ, chancellor of Boston College, will be honored at Catholic Charities’ annual Spring Celebration at 6 p.m. on May 10 at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum. Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley will be present at the celebration where Father Monan will be recognition for his multiple contributions to civic life in the Boston community.
Prior to joining Boston College in 1972, Father Monan held positions as acting president, vice president, academic dean, chairman of the philosophy department, professor and instructor at Le Moyne College in New York, and instructor of philosophy at St. Peter’s College in New Jersey. He holds several degrees from Woodstock College, a doctorate from the University of Louvain in Belgium and has received honorary doctoral degrees from 12 institutions including Boston College, Harvard University, National University of Ireland and the University of Massachusetts.
Jack Connors, chairman emeritus of Hill Holliday, and Jeff Kaneb, vice president of H.P. Hood and chairman of the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees, will co-chair the event.
