Father Curran cleared of abuse allegations
BRIGHTON -- The Archdiocese of Boston announced March 2 that two allegations of sexual abuse of a minor by Father Thomas Curran have been found to be unsubstantiated.
Father Curran was placed on administrative leave in August 2002 due to the first accusation. A second accusation was received in March 2004. Father Curran has been removed from administrative leave and has been assigned the status of permanent disability. While the canonical process concluded that the complaints against Father Curran were unsubstantiated, nonetheless his ministry will be restricted to sacramental celebrations with members of his family.
In making the announcement Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley expressed his concern for all persons impacted by the sexual abuse crisis. The archdiocese is committed to resolving cases of this type in a manner that is just for all parties.
