New provincial for Marist Brothers
The Marist Brothers of the United States have elected Brother Patrick McNamara, FMS, as Provincial for a three year term effective June 2015. Brother Patrick succeeds Brother Ben Consigli, FMS who recently completed a six year mandate.
Brother Patrick, a native of Susquehanna, Pa., previously served as provincial of the former Marist Province of Poughkeepsie, New York from 1994 through 2000. Brother Patrick also worked in several Marist Brothers ministries in the U.S. Most recently, he served as Child Rights Advocate at the Marist Brothers desk before the United Nations Human Rights Council based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Gathered in Chapter in Long Branch, New Jersey in June of this year, delegates also elected Brother Daniel O'Riordan, FMS as Vice Provincial and the following brothers as Councilors: Donald Bisson, FMS, Henry Hammer, FMS, Owen Ormsby, FMS, Albert Rivera, FMS and Sean Sammon, FMS.
In addition to the members of the council, Brother Thomas Schady, FMS has been named Director of Marist Schools and Mr. Frank Pellegrino as Province Director of Finances.
The Marist Brothers are an international Roman Catholic Congregation of Religious Brothers who serve in nine states throughout the United States and 80 countries internationally. Locally, the Brothers serve at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence.
