Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley has announced the appointments of three pastors to archdiocesan parishes in collaboratives; two were named to collaboratives in Phase III and one to a collaborative in Phase II.

Father Clancy

Father Richard F. Clancy, a Winchester native where he was born on April 18, 1960, completed seminary studies at St. John's, Brighton and was ordained at Holy Cross Cathedral on June 22, 1991 by Bernard Cardinal Law. Following ordination he was appointed a parochial vicar at Most Precious Blood Parish in Boston's Hyde Park section.

In 1996 he moved across the city to become Campus Minister at the University of Massachusetts-Boston and a year later also campus minister at Emmanuel College, in the Hub's Fenway section. During this time he lived in residence at St. Brigid Parish in South Boston.

In 2002 he was named Director of Campus Ministry for the archdiocese, overseeing the score of campus ministry sites and probably double that of the personnel -- priests, women and men religious and an increasing number of laity serving at the various campuses.

Since then he had also assumed the responsibility, between 2005 and 2007, as administrator of St. Casimir (Lithuanian) Parish in Brockton. In 2006 he assumed the additional responsibility as campus minister at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. He has been in residence at St. Gregory Rectory, Dorchester.

Father Clancy became pastor of St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish, Dracut; St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Tyngsborough; and St. Rita Parish, Lowell on June 2, 2015.

Father Lohan

A Hub native where he was born on Oct. 14, 1968, Father William P. Lohan grew up in Boston, is an alumnus of the Boston Latin School and St. John's Seminary. A member of the archdiocese's bicentennial class, he was ordained at Holy Cross Cathedral on May 24, 2008 by Cardinal O'Malley. His first priestly assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Mary Parish, Dedham.

His second assignment was a brief one as parochial vicar in three Boston parishes: St. Mary of the Angels, Roxbury; Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Thomas Aquinas, both in Jamaica Plain.

He was named parochial vicar at both St. Martha Parish, Plainville and St. Mary Parish in Wrentham and served as administrator of both parishes for three months at the end of 2012. In December 2013 he was appointed parochial vicar at St. Lucy Parish and at St. Monica Parish, both in Methuen; the two parishes had been established in a collaborative in Phase II of Disciples in Mission in June 2014. Father Lohan has also been serving as a member of the Clergy Personnel Board as representative of Age Block VI since October 2013.

Father Lohan will become pastor of the St. Lucy Parish and St. Monica Parish Collaborative in Methuen on June 15, 2015. He succeeds Msgr. William P. Fay who will be assuming dual responsibility as director of Campus Ministry (succeeding Father Clancy) and also director of Ongoing Formation for Permanent Deacons.

Father Mozer

The new pastor of the St. Martha Parish, Plainville and St. Mary Parish, Wrentham Collaborative is Father Joseph F. Mozer. He assumed the new duties on June 2; he was previously the parochial vicar in both parishes before their being constituted a collaborative.

A Boston native where he was born on Jan. 15, 1970, Father Mozer completed his theological studies at St. John's Seminary prior to his ordination at Holy Cross Cathedral on May 17, 1997 by Cardinal Bernard Law. His first assignment was as a parochial vicar at Holy Family Parish in Duxbury. In 2001 he was named to the staff of the Metropolitan Tribunal of the archdiocese; in the fall of 2003 he began studies in canon law at the Catholic University of America and was granted the licenciate in 2006. He remained on the tribunal staff in various capacities for the next seven years before returning to parish ministry as a parochial vicar in a Phase I collaborative of St. Joseph Parish and St. Luke Parish, Belmont.

In June 2014 he became parochial vicar at the two parishes where he will now be pastor. An interesting side line of this change is that the previous pastor of the two parishes Father William T. Schmidt will now be the parochial vicar, while the previous parochial vicar will be the pastor.

Father Mozer earned high marks during his years on the tribunal staff as a kind and considerate gentleman. He is one of those priests who, admired by both priests and people, seems always to be a genuine priestly presence. Parishioners in both parishes know by now that Father Mozer can both get around and to and from both parishes more deftly -- he's one of several priests of the archdiocese who prefer to travel on two rather than four wheeled motor vehicles.
