BOSTON -- The Daughters of St. Paul, a congregation of women religious dedicated to living and communicating Christ through the media, celebrate the centenary of their foundation this year. The sisters have had a special relationship with the Archdiocese of Boston ever since Richard Cardinal Cushing invited them to establish their novitiate and publishing house in Boston in 1959. The Pauline sisters are familiar throughout the archdiocese and the country for their work of evangelizing with the media.

Sister Mary Leonora Wilson, Provincial Superior of the Daughters of St. Paul throughout the USA and Toronto, Canada, said of the centenary: "We Daughters of St. Paul are witnesses to 100 years of daily miracles and unbroken grace, of passionate love and persevering efforts, of vision, prophecy, trust in divine assistance -- weakness and inadequacy notwithstanding -- and most importantly, of the Good News of Jesus Christ brought to myriads of people through the consecration of the communications media for the Gospel!"

To celebrate their centenary here in Boston, the Daughters of St. Paul are hosting several local events.

On May 17 at 2:00 p.m., the 49th World Communications Day Mass will be celebrated with Father Robert Reed, the president and CEO of iCatholicMedia, Inc., at the Daughters of St. Paul Convent Chapel, 50 St. Paul's Avenue, Jamaica Plain.

The Mass will be followed by refreshments and a brief talk by Sister Jennifer Tecla Hyatt, FSP, on "Spirituality of Communication: What does Spirituality have to do with Communications Media?" On June 14 at 3:00 p.m., Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley will be the main celebrant at a special Mass of Thanksgiving for the Sisters at St. Theresa of Avila Church in West Roxbury.
