Msgr. Fay named director of campus ministry and of continuing education for deacons
BRAINTREE -- Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley has appointed Msgr. William Fay, pastor of St. Lucy and St. Monica Parishes in Methuen, to be director of campus ministry and director of continuing education for deacons in the Archdiocese of Boston effective June 15.
In making this appointment, Cardinal O'Malley said, "As Disciples in Mission, our archdiocesan pastoral plan, takes firm root in our parishes, it is important for us to ensure that the mission of evangelization is also strong in other areas of our life as a Church. Two vital areas that deserve our immediate attention are campus ministry and the ongoing formation of our deacons."
Cardinal O'Malley has asked Msgr. Fay to work closely with those engaged in the works of campus ministry and the diaconate to explore ways in which the principles of Disciples in Mission can strengthen the mission of evangelization on our college campuses and in the various ministries exercised by our deacons. Msgr. Fay will also assist the rector of St. John Seminary in the Theological Institute for the New Evangelization.
In addition to his experience as an administrator and pastor, Msgr. Fay brings to this multifaceted assignment both his longtime work as a member of the faculty of St. John's Seminary and his service on the Pastoral Planning Commission that assisted the cardinal in the development of Disciples in Mission.
