BRAINTREE -- Two women leading Catholic organizations within the Archdiocese of Boston have been named to a list of "2014 Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts" published last month.

Deborah Kincade Rambo, president of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston, appeared at number 13, while Sister Jacquelyn McCarthy, CSJ, CEO and administrator at Bethany Health Care Center appeared at number 89 on the list compiled by The Globe Magazine and the Commonwealth Institute.

According to the Globe's website, the list was compiled using an organization's revenue or operating budget as well as the number of full-time employees, workplace diversity, and innovation.

"Catholic Charities is honored to be named to the top 100 Women-Led Businesses list this year," Rambo said.

The 100 organizations included on the list generated total revenue of $73 billion last year, according to a release from Catholic Charities. The charity called the list a clear indication of the fact that women are key drivers of the state's economy.

"We know that when women are supported and empowered, all of society benefits. Being a woman leader not only allows me to bring my talents and skills to the work that I do -- it allows me to serve as a role model for women who aspire to lead," Rambo said.

Sister Jacquelyn also credited her staff and team at Bethany Health Care Center for the work that led to the recognition.

"I was happy to have Bethany Health Care Center receive this recognition. An award can only happen when the leader has a wonderful team to support the organization," she said.

On a personal level, as the only woman religious included, the list recognized not only her work, but her vocation to ministry.

"Being a Sister of St. Joseph of Boston, it is very important to me that our mission of reaching out to the 'dear neighbor without distinction' is lived out through the quality care provided by our staff on a daily basis," Sister Jacquelyn said. "For me, being CEO is not a job; it is a ministry. If this wonderful ministry is recognized in me and the Bethany Health Care Center team with whom I am privileged to work, then I am humbled by this recognition."
