Pilot receives Catholic Press Awards
The Pilot received awards in two categories at the 2005 Catholic Press Awards. Each year, Catholic Press Association member publications submit entries for judging in a number of categories. The award recipients were announced at the Catholic Media Convocation held this year in Orlando, Fla.
The Pilot received honorable mention for general excellence among diocesan newspapers with a circulation of 17,000- 40,000.
"We are very pleased to have been recognized in the general excellence category. The entire staff has worked hard over the last several years to make The Pilot the best newspaper it can be. We take this award as confirmation that our efforts are paying off," said editor Antonio Enrique.
Pilot staff member Gregory L. Tracy also received honorable mention in the category “best general news photo” for “Demonstrators face off.” The photograph depicts a confrontation between demonstrators on opposite sides of the same-sex marriage debate in the halls of the Statehouse during the March 2004 Constitutional Convention.
