Permanent deacon class of 2013
Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley will ordain 12 men as permanent deacons Sept. 21 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. The members of the Diaconate Class of 2013 are:
Joseph Flocco is a business development manager for Siemens. His wife, Peggy, is a nurse and patient educator at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. Joe and Peggy have three children; Lauren is a recent recipient of a Masters of Education degree from the University of Massachusetts living in Somerville; Briana and her husband Chris are mechanical engineers and with their son Paxton live in Norton; Joseph III of Wrentham graduated Xaverian Brothers HS and is a recent engineering and mathematics degree graduate of Providence College and Columbia University. Joe and Peggy have been parishioners of St. Mary Wrentham for the past 23 years. Deacon Flocco will be serving his parish assignment assisting Father Bill Schmidt at St. Mary Parish in Wrentham and St. Martha Parish in Plainville. He will be serving his diocesan assignment assisting Kari Colella in the Office of Marriage Ministries.
Bill Proulx is the Chief Financial Officer for Burke Distributing Corporation. He and his wife, Gail, live in Braintree and have five children: Kelly (age 25), Michelle (age 24), Will (age 22), Matt (age 17) and Deborah (age 12). Deacon Proulx will be serving his parish assignment assisting Father Robert Cullen at St. John the Baptist Parish in Quincy and his diocesan assignment assisting Deacon Dan Burns in the Office of Diaconate Formation.
Kevin P. Martin Jr. is the managing director of Kevin P. Martin and Associates, P.C., a CPA and business consulting firm. Formerly of South Boston, Kevin and his wife, Lisa, live in Milton and have four children; Kevin (age 19) is a graduate of St. Sebastian and currently a sophomore at Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Connor (age 17) and Brian (age 15) are students at Boston College High School, and Meghan (age 13) attends Montrose School for Girls. Deacon Martin will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father Arthur Wright, at St. Mary of the Hills Parish in Milton and his diocesan assignment, assisting Kari Colella, in the Office of Marriage Ministries.
John J. Burkly is a hospice chaplain. He and his wife, Linda, have three grown children; Daniel, Thomas, and Megan and two grandsons, Matt and Jack. Deacon Burkly will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father Dan O'Connell, at Corpus Christi-St. Bernard in West Newton and his diocesan assignment, assisting Marianne Luthin, in the Pro-Life/Respect Life Office.
John Beagan is an information systems developer at Tufts University. He and his wife, Marita, live in Watertown and have three sons, Jesse (age 25), Charlie (age 23) and Joe (age 14). Deacon Beagan will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father Richard Okiria, at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Watertown and his diocesan assignment, assisting Kari Colella, in the Office of Marriage Ministries.
William M. Jackson is a court stenographer employed by Copley Court Reporting, Boston, Massachusetts. William has two adult daughters. Deacon Jackson will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father Tom Boudreau, at St. Michael Parish in Avon, and Father John Currie, at St. Joseph Parish in Holbrook. He will be serving his diocesan assignment, assisting Deacon Jim Greer, in the Office of Health Care Ministry.
Matthew Baltier is employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He and his wife, Michelle, have been married almost twenty years. Deacon Baltier will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father Darin Colarusso, at St. Athanasius Parish and his diocesan assignment, assisting Deacon Jim Greer, in Ministry.
Paul Coletti is a fund administration director employed at John Hancock Investments. He and his wife, Kim, live in Marlborough and have two daughters, Marissa (age 25) and Leah (age 22). Deacon Coletti will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father Francis O'Brien, at St. Matthias Parish in Marlborough and his diocesan assignment, assisting Kari Colella, in the Office of Marriage Ministries.
John Barry is an art teacher and former environmental graphic designer. He and his wife, Diane, live in Medway, and have three children, a daughter Sarah (age 19), and two sons, David (age 17) and Nolan (age 11). John and Diane will celebrate their silver wedding anniversary in early October. Deacon Barry will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father Mark Coiro, at St. Mary's Parish in Holliston and his diocesan assignment, assisting Janet Benestad, in the Office of Faith Formation and Evangelization.
Dick Cussen is a registered professional engineer. He and his wife, Ann, have been married nearly 40 years and live in Kingston. They have 3 adult children, Meaghan, Brenna and Joseph and two sons-in-law, Antonio and Eric. Deacon Cussen will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father William Williams at St. Peter's Church in Plymouth and his diocesan assignment, assisting Deacon Jim Greer, in the Office of Prison Ministry.
Tim Donohue is a senior executive with Quintiles, a healthcare company. Tim and his wife, Kathy, have been married 40 years, and live in Holliston. Kathy is a Chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. Tim and Kathy have four children; Tom is married to Kristen Cunningham; they have two children, Karen and Katie, and live in the Washington DC area; Megan is married to David Min; they have one child and live in Cleveland; Timmy is living in the North End of Boston; Patrick is married to Sarah Goodale, and they live in Roslindale. Deacon Donohue will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father John Grimes at Church of the Most Precious Blood in Dover and St. Theresa Parish in Sherborn. He will be serving his diocesan assignment, assisting Deacon Patrick Guerrini, in the Office of Diaconal Life and Ministry.
Joseph Harrington works at the New England division of CBS Outdoor. He and his wife Catherine live in Hanover and have two children, a daughter, Justine and a son, Joseph. Deacon Harrington will be serving his parish assignment, assisting Father Tom Nestor, at St. Paul Parish in Hingham, and his diocesan assignment, assisting Father Robert Reed, at the Catholic Television Network.
