BRAINTREE -- The Pilot received recognition in four categories at the annual Catholic Press Awards presented June 21 at the Catholic Media Convocation in Denver, Colo.
The Pilot received two second place awards, one third place award, and one honorable mention from the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada.
In second place for the "Best Example of Effective Advertising Promotion Originating with the Publication," Stephanie M. Rodricks received recognition for The Pilot's "Travel Guide 2012."
Rodricks also received third place recognition for the "Best Media Kit Created in 2012."
Pilot columnist Dale O'Leary received second place for "Best Regular Column -- Spiritual Life."
The judges called O'Leary's work "challenging, well written if wonky columns with sharp points of view."
For "Best Feature Writing -- Diocesan paper," Christopher S. Pineo received honorable mention for a feature on Father Father Peter Nolan, CSSp, titled "Hyde Park pastor proclaimed chief for work in Nigeria."
"The choice of quotes is what made this piece stand out. Author was able to make Father Nolan come alive as well as his ministry," said the judges.
