BRIGHTON -- The Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC) met in Kowloon, Hong Kong in a weeklong session that started May 3. Among the participants was Boston Auxiliary Bishop Arthur L. Kennedy, one of three Americans who participated in the meeting.

Bishop Kennedy was appointed to this commission in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI.

Members presented papers on various topics which were then discussed in both plenary and small groups. Bishop Kennedy's presentation to the commission was entitled: "Anthropology: States of Existence and Stages for Conversions."

The commission, co-chaired by the Most Reverend David Moxon (Anglican Archbishop of the New Zealand Dioceses) and the Most Reverend Bernard Longley (Roman Catholic Archbishop of Birmingham, England) comprises nineteen theologians from a wide range of backgrounds across the world. According to the mandate given to the commission the task is to address interrelated issues: "The Church as communion, local and universal," and "How in communion the local and universal Church comes to discern right ethical teaching."
