BOSTON -- Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley called on Catholic educators to “boldly proclaim” the truths of the Catholic faith at the annual President’s Council Dinner for the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts at the Omni Parker House Oct. 24.

“Today, Catholic educators must joyfully and boldly proclaim the truths about Christ, the Church, and the human person,” Cardinal O’Malley said. “These are the contents of our faith and the truths that will set us free.”

His also discussed the need to stress the lives of the saints in their work.

“We need to equip our young people to be disciples. They need to know the truths of our faith. They need to know how to live these truths,” Cardinal O’Malley said. “We live in a world that is obsessed by celebrities. Celebrities have replaced heroes for young people. The Church has always held up for us the lives of our saints.”

The dinner also included an invocation by Father Romanus Cessario, OP, of St. John’s Seminary as well as addresses by college president Dr. William Fahey, and, David Clayton, a noted iconographer and a professor at the college.

The Thomas More College of Liberal Arts is a Catholic college in Merrimack, New Hampshire. Its Catholic liberal arts curriculum includes courses in the humanities, Latin and Greek, Euclidian geometry, writing, theology, art and architecture, and the natural sciences.
