‘Molotov’ cocktail tossed in Church
BROCKTON -- On July 5, after the 7:30 am Mass, Church workers discovered two broken beer bottles stuffed with paper towels at St. Edith Stein Parish.
Officials told The Enterprise of Brockton that the two homemade bombs, described as “molotov” cocktails, were tossed through an open window of the church.
Fire officials said there were some scorch marks on the floor of the church, but no serious damage was done and no injuries were reported.
Archdiocesan spokesman Terrence C. Donilon released a statement July 6 declining to comment on the incident because of the ongoing investigation.
“We are grateful that no injuries and no damage was sustained and we pray for those responsible for this unfortunate incident,” the statement said.
