One thing that you can't miss when viewing photos of Bishop O'Connell is that he is always smiling. This is not something that's started in school, college, seminary or after his three ordinations. He let us go through his family album and we found out that he basically is happy and wants to share that with us. He really grew up smiling.

As he said at his episcopal ordination in 2016, "I want to be a smiling bishop."
