Archbishop keeps limited schedule recovering from infection

byChristine Williams

BOSTON — Archbishop Seán P. O’Malley is maintaining a limited office schedule as he recovers from flu-like symptoms resulting from an inner ear infection, Father Robert Kickham, the archbishop’s secretary, told The Pilot on Sept. 27.

Archbishop O’Malley “underwent routine testing for an acute inner ear infection” and was admitted to Caritas St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center on Sept. 21 for treatment. He was discharged on Sept. 23, and returned home to the rectory at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston.

“The archbishop is in good spirits and wishes to extend his sincere thanks for the many prayers and good wishes he has received in recent days,” an archdiocesan statement said.

The archbishop is expected to resume his full schedule in the first week of October.
