Each year, throughout the months of December to February, teams from parishes and grammar schools of the Archdiocese of Boston compete in various Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) basketball leagues. At the culmination of each season, the winningest teams from each of the 11 archdiocesan leagues are invited to participate in the annual CYO basketball tournament.
This March, the tournament played host to 74 boys and girls teams from local parishes and grammar schools of the archdiocese.
In releasing the results of the tournament, the CYO committee thanked, "the supporters, coaches, and players from all of the tournament teams for their cooperation, sportsmanship, and virtuous participation in each game played. You are all champions for Christ! We pray that you continue to use your talent to serve Him well, not only on the court, but in all things!"
The tournament committee also expressed its gratitude to Boston College High School, Catholic Memorial High School, and Xaverian Brothers High School for hosting the tournament competitions.
Tournament winners will move on to the New England CYO basketball tournament, hosted in Bridgeport, Connecticut from March 31 to April 2.
"Please join our committee as we pray for each of these teams. May they continue to persevere in service to Christ with strength, courage, and humble sportsmanship. Go, 'fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith,'" the committee said.
